After spending over 20 years actively investing in software and services companies at Battery between 1995 and 2016, Dave now serves as a senior advisor to the firm. He remains a general partner in a number of the active funds and continues to work closely with a range of portfolio companies. Over his time with the firm, Dave’s areas of interest has ranged from startups; creating BladeLogic (IPO) with an entrepreneur-in-residence; emerging companies, such as SingleHop; and buyouts, such as the take-privates of Consona (formerly Made2Manage Systems), Quovadx (resulting in Healthvision and Rogue Wave), Vero Software (acquired by Hexagon) and Forterro (formerly Jeeves). Dave has extensive experience with a variety of business models ranging from traditional license software to Software as a Service, as well as business services companies and exchanges.
Dave’s current portfolio includes CrunchTime!, Enviance, Forterro, and SingleHop. In addition, Dave sits on the boards of Duetto, Nova Instruments, and Nova Metrix. His previous investments include Altra Energy Technologies (acquired by Caminus/SunGard), BladeLogic (IPO), Consona (acquired by Vista Equity), Data Innovations (acquired by Roper Industries), Eggrock Partners (acquired by Breakaway Solutions), Healthvision (acquired by Lawson Software), HighJump Software (acquired by Accellos), IHS (acquired by Sabre), Rogue Wave Software (acquired by Audax Private Equity), Vastera (IPO) and Vero Software (acquired by Hexagon).
Prior to Battery, Dave worked for investment consulting firm Cambridge Associates, where he conducted research on the venture capital industry and evaluated venture capital firms for clients. Dave graduated from Dartmouth College.
