It’s time again to update our SaaS Success Database, our proprietary Battery list of private, public and acquired SaaS-company standouts.
This quarter—meaning as of Dec. 31, 2015–our list grew by one, to 67 companies. We added Gusto, the payroll- and benefits-software company (previously called ZenPayroll), and Instructure, a publicly listed education and corporate-training software firm. One company, Textura, fell off our list. Atlassian stayed in the database, but changed its designation to public from private after its December IPO.
The database is comprised of 1) venture-backed, private SaaS companies valued at over $1 billion; 2) public companies valued at over $500 million; and 3) companies involved in a strategic acquisition – meaning acquired by a public tech company – for over $500M. Right now, our list contains 32 public companies, 22 acquired companies and 13 privately held companies.
