Portfolio Spotlight: Guy Tytunovich, CEO of CHEQ*
Each month, Battery highlights a different portfolio-company CEO with our “Five Questions in Five Minutes” feature, showcasing the diversity of the Battery portfolio across investment stages, sectors and geographies.
What does your company do in 10 words or less?
We’re disrupting ad-verification with military grade-AI.
What is your favorite piece of management/leadership advice?
“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.” — Calvin Coolidge.
What’s the most under-rated trend in technology, in your opinion?
The democratization of 3D printing. Once the tech becomes available and affordable to consumers, I expect an almost unfathomable impact on manufacturing, commerce, and distribution. If people make products at home, what happens to Amazon? What happens to FedEx? What happens to Inditex? The potential for disruption is mind boggling.
What CHEQ accomplishment in the last 12 months are you most proud of?
We signed an agreement with Dentsu (the world’s second largest advertising holding group) to become the exclusive verification solution for the Japanese market. This deal was a year in the making, during which we won multiple head-to-head pilots with the incumbent solutions and passed some of the most rigorous testing imaginable.
BONUS QUESTION: What is your favorite dish to eat? And dish to cook?
There’s too much good food out there for me to commit to one favorite dish. Let’s just say that I’ll happily try the best version of anything… Cooking? I make a mean Ragu.
