Steve is an executive in residence working with the firm’s private equity group. In this role, he helps Battery identify promising new investments and counsels existing portfolio companies on strategic as well as tactical management issues.

Steve re-joined Battery in 2022 as an executive in residence working with the firm’s private equity group. In this role, he helps Battery identify promising new investments and counsels existing portfolio companies on strategic as well as tactical management issues. He also sits on the boards of Battery portfolio companies CrunchTime!, Craftview and easy software.

In a previous role at Battery, Steve worked alongside the firm’s team on the buyout of IHS Group Worldwide GmbH, a portfolio of companies providing the hospitality industry with a wide range of technology, distribution and service solutions.  In July 2013, Steve became chairman and chief executive of IHS. Sabre purchased IHS and a related group of companies in 2015.

Steve previously held a variety of executive roles including CEO of Torex Retail Holdings Limited, president at 3Com Ventures, Inc. and CEO of Anite plc. He has also been active on corporate boards in Europe, including serving as the chairman of companies such as Fourth and CoreHR and executive chairman of MetaPack Group. Steve served as a non-executive director of PayPoint plc, a director of IBM UK and is currently a director at GlobalWebIndex, a market-research company.

Earlier in his career Steve served as senior vice president and general manager of PeopleSoft Europe. Prior to PeopleSoft, Steve pursued a successful career within 3 Com Corp., starting off as managing director for UK, Ireland and the Middle East and ending his tenure there as senior vice president for corporate business development in the U.S. He served in his first executive appointment at BT Cellnet as marketing director and general manager, and prior to that served in senior management positions at Hitachi Trading Company (Nissei) UK and IBM UK Ltd. He started his career at Hewlett-Packard.

Steve was educated in the UK and holds a BSc in engineering design from Loughborough University.
