Farooq joined Battery in 2008 and focuses on investments in communication services/infrastructure, consumer Internet, and digital media. He currently works with Pocket Wireless and was on the deal team for Groupon. Prior to Battery, Farooq pursued opportunities as an entrepreneur and investor in the $20 billion U.S. auction of 700 MHz wireless spectrum and the $4 billion Canadian auction of AWS spectrum. He has also held positions as a consultant with The Boston Consulting Group, advising Fortune 500 consumer and industrial goods companies on strategic issues, and The Brattle Group, advising companies, governments, and legal firms on economic and financial matters.

Farooq received a BA with honors in Economics from Washington University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
