Vice President Rafael joined Battery in 2008 as a Senior Associate, and focuses on private equity investments, including growth equity, buyouts, rollups, PIPES and take-privates. His investments include Digby, Exact Target, Internet Brands, and Wayfair (formerly CSN Stores). Prior to Battery, he spent a number of years with Technology Crossover Ventures (TCV), a $7.7B private equity and venture capital firm, where he focused on growth, recapitalizations and buyout investments in the Internet, Software and Financial Services sectors. At TCV, Rafael was actively involved in originating, executing and managing a number of investments, including: 2Wire (sold for $475M), Redback Networks (sold for $2.1B), and Webroot Software. Rafael has also held positions with Goldman Sachs and RBC Capital Markets. At Goldman Sachs, he was involved in structuring, underwriting, and marketing leveraged buyout transactions in excess of $4B in the technology sector. During his tenure at RBC Capital Markets, he advised technology companies on a wide range of financial and strategic matters valued at approximately $3B. He received a BBA in Finance from The University of Texas at Austin and an MBA from Harvard Business School. |
