Senior Associate Rafael joined Battery in 2008 as a Senior Associate, and focuses on private equity investments, including growth equity, buyouts, rollups, PIPES and take-privates. Prior to Battery, he spent a number of years with Technology Crossover Ventures (TCV), a $7.7B private equity and venture capital firm, where he focused on growth, recapitalizations and buyout investments in the technology and financial services sectors. At TCV, he completed several investments ranging from $30M - $108M and was closely involved with several portfolio companies including: 2Wire, Continuous Computing, egenera, Redback Networks (sold for $2.1B), and Webroot Software. Rafael has also held positions with Goldman Sachs and RBC Capital Markets. At Goldman Sachs, he was involved in structuring, underwriting, and marketing leveraged buyout transactions in excess of $4B in the gaming, real estate, media, and technology industries. During his tenure at RBC Capital Markets, he advised technology companies on a wide range of financial and strategic matters valued at approximately $3B including financing alternatives, acquisitions, strategic investments, and recapitalizations. He received a BBA in Finance from The University of Texas at Austin and an MBA from Harvard Business School. |
