Matt focuses on investments in Internet, software and services businesses. Prior to Battery, Matt served as the CEO of New York at Groupon, where he led the sales and operations for Groupon’s largest market, growing revenues 220%.
Before Groupon, Matt spent a number of years with Technology Crossover Ventures (TCV) a $7.7B private equity and venture capital firm, where he focused on investments in the Internet and Software sectors. At TCV, Matt helped source and execute investments in leading Internet and Software businesses including Groupon (NASDAQ: GRPN), HomeAway (NASDAQ: AWAY) and Everyday Health. He also worked closely with other companies including Orbitz (NASDAQ: OWW), Adknowledge, TheStreet.com (NASDAQ: TSCM) and Travelport. Prior to TCV, Matt spent several years at Lehman Brothers, working on a variety of debt and equity financings, M&A transactions and strategic advisory assignments, including advising Yahoo! on Microsoft’s unsolicited $44 billion bid for the company.
Matt received a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania with a dual concentration in Finance and Management. He currently serves on the Executive Advisory Board of Techweek.
