Nano Nexus 2007

Earlier this year, investment team member Dr. John Chen participated as a judge at Nano Nexus 2007’s Venture Showcase. The event was sponsored by the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. ORNL, a world leader in nanotechnology research, gathered a compelling range of participants across the entire commercialization process from scientific discovery through starting new businesses.

Dow Jones Events

Tom Crotty, Battery General Partner, was a panelist at Dow Jones’ 2006 Private Equity Analyst Conference. His panel — “Building a Sustaining Firm: What Does it Take” — reviewed strategies and best practices for scaling a successful investment team, ensuring firm longevity, and driving fund returns year-after-year.

General Partner Dave Tabors joined a panel entitled “The Exit Reconsidered” at Dow Jones’ VentureOne Outlook 2007. With a combination of IPO, M&A and buyout experience in his portfolio, Dave was able to offer a varied perspective on finding liquidity.

At We Media Miami, a conference at the University of Miami dedicated to “participatory media,” Brian O'Malley joined the forward-thinking Stagesetters panel to discuss the investment landscape and the ever-evolving business models in new media.

Rice Alliance for Technology and Entrepreneurship

Partner Jason Matlof, who is one of our clean tech investment team members, joined the Venture Capital Roundtable at the 4th Annual Energy Technology Venture Forum, a conference organized by Rice University’s Rice Alliance for Technology and Entrepreneurship.
